Overview

The Vaultek RS500i part of RS Series is a tough and rugged, quick access, ViSN™ enabled smart safe. Its solid structure and penetration resistant design makes it ideal for storing valuables such as firearms, rifles, jewelry, cash, and other personal items. Powered by the AC power adapter, and backup batteries, the safe combines high security with complete access control.

Anti-Theft

Advance anti-theft protection included 14-gauge steel construction, (4) solid steel locking bolts, anti-pry bars, ruggedized interior hinges, mounting holes, Impact Detection, Security Sleep Mode, Tamper Detection, and ViSN™ Live Alerts.

Mounting: Can be secured via the included mounting screws to a flat surface, such as a closet floor or wall, using the pre-drilled holes on the bottom or backside of the safe.
Impact Detection: Detects bumps or impacts and triggers an alarm.
Security Sleep Mode: Activates when six (6) consecutive incorrect keypad entries are entered or (6) incorrect fingerprint scans are made. The safe will not accept any entries for four minutes. If any additional attempts are made the alarm will beep. The security sleep mode can be cleared upon unlock of the safe by any authorized access method including the backup keys.
Tamper Detection: Activates if someone enters the incorrect master code or scans an incorrect fingerprint. The LCD screen will display tampering. You can also receive live ViSN™ alerts of tampering straight to your smartphone.
ViSN™ Live Alerts: Stay in touch with your safe activity, and choose from a variety of alert preferences including email, push notifications, and SMS text messaging with a ViSN Premium subscription. Receive live alerts of critical safe activity such as Tampering, Impact Detection, Opened, and Closed.

Power

This safe needs to be plugged in continuously for normal function and four AA batteries need to be installed. These batteries provide backup power in the event of a power outage and will provide power for about 3 months in Low Power Mode allowing quick access to the safe.

Perfect execution of a very good design

This is my 6th or 7th Vaultek safe of some flavor. First RS series purchase. It replaced a more traditional steel box with a fingerprint reader. The only thing I miss from that was that I could make it relatively humidity-stable. A bit of foam gasket and taping over mounting holes and bolts. It stayed dry. I can’t do that with the RS safe unfortunately. But that’s where the complaints end. This is a high quality product that looks and feels it’s price. The features are all useful and lacking in seemingly all other safes. Accessories cost a bit but show me a product where that’s not true. I’m more confident with this cabinet for 3 long guns than I was before. A resourceful thief will overwhelm any barrier with enough time. But this keeps my stuff out of reach to others, but quickly accessible by me. And with a code of my fingerprints fail. Nicely done.

Great safe

Received safe very fast shipping, great safe I love it. Also ordered inside door panel but didn’t receive hardware to install it on the door. Armadillo contacted Vaultek but Vaultek is very slow at sending out hardware. Vaultek could learn a lot from Armadillo’s customer service.

Small but just right

It's the best vault anyone can buy. It's not a high price because u pay for what you are getting. Customize how ever you want it. Fits five rifles in front and 1 in the door. Many choices. Just pay a little more for the add-ons.

Falling apart

It’s a shame because it was a gift for my husband and ended up being a project. He didn’t want to return it because he said he can fix it. The entire tree part and back that mounts to the wall were coming off. He took out all the nails and had to replace them as most were not securing the wood in place. The shipping box was in perfect condition so it did not happened in transit. Once my husband fixed it, it’s beautiful.

Won't Program

The biometric fingerprint lock will not program. Without programing the fingerprint lock the safe is useless as anyone can open it. When programing the fingerprint lock, the green light remains steadily illuminated instead of flash as the instructions read. The power cord is only useful if you keep your safe within one foot of an electrical outlet. I would not recommend this safe.

I had been looking for a safe for some time and found the one that I wanted. A quick google search brought me to Armadillo, who had the safe I wanted in stock ready to ship. What I couldn't believe was that shipping was free and the purchase was tax free! Not only that but it was less than a week from my card being charged to the safe being delivered to my door. I didn't opt for the white glove service, but it was nice to know that it was an option. Thanks again to Sarah for all of her help and to the whole team at Armadillo.
