Armadillo Safes is proud to be
Hollon Safes preferred online dealer offering FREE Shipping Nationwide. Hollon has been making safes that exceed industry standards for years. Their design, strength and durability go beyond what most manufacturers provide. Hollon Safe takes pride in the fact that before their brand name is attached to each and any safe, it must undergo a rigid list of inspections, testing and audits by companies like UL (Underwriter’s Laboratories). This is an independent research, safety and science company that takes a non-biased approach to evaluating products and shares their findings so consumers can confidently make sound decisions when investing in a safe.
When it comes to Gun Safes you want to consider two major items: Security and Fire. This new Republic Gun Safe series, assembled right here in America is like keeping guns inside a Sherman tank. The Republic Gun Safe is one of the thickest steeled UL listed RSC rated gun safes available today. This series is 90-minute fire rated designed with as much as 300% more steel than competitor’s models. Hollon welds a 3 gauge or a ¼ inch steel plate to the front door. This plate will act as your first barrier against theft. Once welded on to the door the actual thickness of the door prohibits pry bars from reaching down past the 2-inch defense barrier, much less actually touching the vaults to begin prying. They have also added engineered pry bar resistant features to the doorframe. The first is U Channel steel, next is bolt reinforcement holes, because of this added support Hollon makes their 1 ½ inch bolts longer. As much as 90% longer than the industry standard
But it doesn’t stop there, the last item added to the Hollon Republic Gun Safe is the bolt armor package which reinforces the steel directly around the bolt, because in pry attacks it is normally not the bolt that bends but the surrounding steel that gives away. Hollon’s bolt armor is composed of stainless steel bolt rings that are 1/8 of an inch thick. These reinforce the bolt hole and thicken the side door steel. A bolt is only as good for as long as it can stay in place. So together, our bolts are reinforced inside the door and outside the doorframe making the steel over 1/3 of an inch thick.
The hinges are much larger than the average gun safe. Average gun safe hinges tend to sag after a decade, where Hollon hinges are vault hinges and are designed to outlast most hinges on gun safes by decades. These hinges also allow a full 180-degree swing and allow the door to be removed.
When it comes to locks, Hollon only uses the Sargent and Greenleaf Group 2 dial locks. These 6741 series locks have an internal re-lock trigger, which secures the lock itself in the event of an attack. The lock can be upgraded to the Military grade EMP resistant UL listed group 1 electronic lock.
Why does Hollon Safe use the more expensive S&G electronic locks over the imports that other brands use?
Sargent and Greenleaf’s have been making locks since 1860 and are known worldwide for the best high-security locks and electronic locks. The locks are all protected with Drill and ballistic resistant hard plate to protect the lock during drill attacks. The only practical way through it is by melting it. Even if a thief managed to get through that, these safes have a dual relocking system that works even if there is no lock left on the safe. This happens because there is secondary lock hidden on the inside that springs into action should the first lock become compromised.
These locks are also proven to withstand military-level EMP attacks giving you full access to your valuables even after an EMP emergency.
What is an EMP? Electromagnetic pulses (EMP) are short bursts of electromagnetic energy that can interfere or damage electrical equipment, thus disabling their functionality. An EMP can occur naturally with solar flares or can be created by technological devices such as nuclear weapons. The high-energy particles from such an explosion would cascade down to Earth interacting with the planet’s magnetic field and destroy the electronic systems below. This would cripple the nation’s power system.
S&G tested its most popular gun safe locks using the U.S. military’s highest EMP impact standard. An independent lab applied a radiant transient electromagnetic field on a variety of S&G keypads following the Military Standard MIL-STD461F, Method RS105 at 50 kV/m peak exposure. At the end of the testing series, the S&G locks were still fully functional.
The Republic includes our upgraded 5-spoke star handle with slip clutch technology and, should it be forced, it slips out of gear, makes a full circle and then locks back into place.
The Republic Series is UL (RSC) Rated and are now 2 Hours Fire Rated (Except RG-12) at temperatures of up to 1400° F external and 350° F internal.
The safes four bolt down holes and mounting hardware provide maximum protection. The Republic Gun Safes also come with a plush cushioned interior that is wrapped on all sides and includes a special durable “pillow trim” that coddles your guns and eliminates possible scratches
In addition to the luxury interior, each Republic Gun Safe includes a motion activated “Vista Light” LED lighting system. This system can be either battery operated or plugged into the electrical outlet that includes multiple outlets and two USB ports. Included on each door is a heavy-duty canvas door organizer, designed to help you get the most usage of space. Republic Gun Safes have two U-Channel steel support beams under every top shelf so you can load it up with heavy ammo and avoid bowing or breaking the shelf.
